Just as Jesus did, we welcome children to the ministries of First United Methodist Church. At FUMC, children are an active and vital part of our church community. All children's activities relate to the vision of our church which includes growth in grace, discovering their gifts and using them in ministry in the church and in the world, all for the glory of God.
Are children’s programs offered during worship services?
Childcare is provided in our nursery for infants through preschool-4 years old during the service. Older children attend worship with their families. Activity pages are offered for children to take to their seat.
What else happens for children on Sunday mornings?
The Sunday school hour begins at 9:45AM and offers experiences for toddlers through fifth graders. All children activities are upstairs in the education building.
Are all children to be picked up by a parent at the end of the hour?
All children in the nursery must be picked up by a parent. Other children in Early Childhood can be picked up at their classroom by a parent. You may arrange a meeting place with them prior to the close of the Sunday school hour.
How is my child’s safety assured?
All who work with children at First United Methodist have undergone background checks. Regular observation and open classrooms assist in ensuring your child’s safety while at First United Methodist.
FUMC encourages children to attend a fun-filled camp at Camp Wesley Pines. The camp setting introduces our children to the concept of the Kingdom of God and includes many people from many places. Camps are for children who are entering 1st grade through high school.
Sunday mornings 10:00AM – 12:00PM and Wednesday evenings 6:00– 6:30PM during the school year (August through May) and as needed in the summer (June-July). A nursery is provided by volunteers for all church services and many church–wide events by request. Please contact the church office for special requests of nursery services.
Join us on Wednesdays for our Wonderful Wednesdays at Wesley program. During this after school program, children ages 4-5th grade participate in Bible stories, Bible skills and music in a loving, christian atmosphere. To access the 2019-2020 Children's WWW registration form please click here.
